Posted on June 27, 2025
Absolutely! A Seven-Layer Taco Salad is a fun, colorful, and delicious dish that’s perfect for parties, potlucks, or easy weeknight dinners. It’s got all the flavors of a taco layered beautifully in a dish—cool, crunchy, creamy, and satisfying.

🌮 Seven-Layer Taco Salad

🥗 Classic Layers (from bottom to top):

  1. Refried beans (or seasoned black beans)

  2. Guacamole

  3. Sour cream mixed with taco seasoning

  4. Shredded lettuce

  5. Chopped tomatoes

  6. Shredded cheese (cheddar, Mexican blend)

  7. Sliced black olives (or green onions)

🧾 Ingredients:

  • 1 can (16 oz) refried beans (or 1½ cups seasoned black beans)

  • 1–2 ripe avocados or store-bought guacamole

  • 1 cup sour cream

  • 1 tbsp taco seasoning (or a mix of chili powder, cumin, garlic, and paprika)

  • 2 cups shredded lettuce (romaine or iceberg)

  • 1 cup diced tomatoes (roma or cherry)

  • 1½ cups shredded cheese

  • ½ cup sliced black olives (optional)

  • Optional extras: diced jalapeños, green onions, crushed tortilla chips, lime wedges

🧑‍🍳 Instructions:

  1. Layer 1 – Beans:
Spread refried beans evenly in the bottom of a large glass bowl or 9×13″ dish.

  2. Layer 2 – Guacamole:
Mash avocados with lime juice and salt (or use pre-made guac) and spread over the beans.

  3. Layer 3 – Taco Sour Cream:
Mix sour cream with taco seasoning and spread over guacamole.

  4. Layer 4 – Lettuce:
Sprinkle a thick layer of shredded lettuce across the top.

  5. Layer 5 – Tomatoes:
Evenly scatter diced tomatoes over the lettuce.

  6. Layer 6 – Cheese:
Sprinkle shredded cheese generously on top.

  7. Layer 7 – Olives (or green onions):
Finish with sliced olives, green onions, or both!

🥄 Serving Tips:

  • Serve chilled with tortilla chips or over a plate of chips like nachos.

  • Great as a dip or side, or scoop into taco shells or lettuce cups for a low-carb option.

🔄 Variations:

  • Add seasoned ground beef or shredded chicken between layers 1 & 2 for extra protein.

  • Use Greek yogurt instead of sour cream for a lighter option.

  • Top with crushed Doritos or Fritos for crunch!
