In a microwave-safe mug (10–12 oz), stir together flour, cocoa, sugar, baking powder, and salt.

Stir in milk, oil, and vanilla until smooth.

Optional: fold in 1 tbsp chocolate chips or a spoonful of Nutella in the center.

Microwave on high for 1 minute and 10–30 seconds, depending on your microwave’s power.

Cake should rise and be just set but still slightly gooey in the middle if you like it fudgy.
