Here’s a classic French Fries recipe — golden, crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside. Perfect as a side dish, snack, or indulgent treat.


🍟 Classic French Fries

🍽️ Servings: 4

⏱️ Prep Time: 15 minutes

🛑 Soak Time: 30–60 minutes

🔥 Cook Time: 15–20 minutes


🧂 Ingredients:

  • 4 large russet potatoes (best for fries)

  • Vegetable oil for frying (canola, peanut, or sunflower)

  • Salt (to taste)

  • Optional: garlic powder, paprika, or herbs for seasoning


🔪 Instructions:

1. Peel & Cut:

  • Peel (optional) and cut potatoes into ¼-inch thick sticks.

  • Try to make them uniform for even cooking.

2. Soak:

  • Soak fries in a large bowl of cold water for at least 30 minutes, or up to 12 hours in the fridge.

  • This removes excess starch and helps them get crispy.

3. Dry Completely:

  • Drain and pat dry thoroughly with a clean kitchen towel. Moisture = soggy fries.

4. Fry (Two-Stage Method for Best Results):

First Fry (Blanching):

  • Heat oil to 325°F (160°C).

  • Fry the potatoes in batches for 3–5 minutes, until soft but not browned.

  • Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

Second Fry (Crisping):

  • Increase oil heat to 375°F (190°C).

  • Fry again in batches for 2–3 minutes, or until golden and crispy.

  • Drain on paper towels and immediately sprinkle with salt.


✅ Tips:

  • No thermometer? Drop a test fry — it should bubble but not brown too fast.

  • Want to bake instead? Toss with oil, bake at 425°F (220°C) for 35–45 min, flipping halfway.

  • Air fryer? Cook at 380°F (193°C) for 15–20 minutes, shaking halfway.


🍔 Serve With:

  • Ketchup, garlic aioli, fry sauce, or malt vinegar

  • Burgers, sandwiches, or grilled anything
