Here’s a delicious and creamy Creamed Spinach Tortellini recipe — perfect as a comforting main or an indulgent side dish!


🥣 Creamed Spinach Tortellini Recipe

✅ Ingredients:

  • 1 package (9-12 oz) refrigerated or frozen cheese tortellini

  • 1 tbsp olive oil or butter

  • 3 cloves garlic, minced

  • 2 cups fresh baby spinach (or 1 cup frozen spinach, thawed and drained)

  • 1 cup heavy cream (or half-and-half for a lighter option)

  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg (optional, but recommended)

  • Salt & black pepper, to taste

  • Red pepper flakes, optional (for heat)


👨‍🍳 Instructions:

  1. Cook Tortellini:

    • Boil the tortellini according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.

  2. Sauté Aromatics:

    • In a large skillet over medium heat, add olive oil or butter.

    • Add minced garlic and cook for about 30 seconds, until fragrant.

  3. Cook Spinach:

    • Add spinach to the skillet. Stir until wilted (about 2–3 minutes for fresh spinach).

    • If using frozen spinach, make sure it’s well-drained and just heat through.

  4. Make Cream Sauce:

    • Pour in the heavy cream and stir to combine with spinach.

    • Let simmer for 2–3 minutes to slightly thicken.

  5. Add Cheese:

    • Stir in the Parmesan cheese and a pinch of nutmeg. Mix until the sauce is creamy and smooth.

  6. Combine:

    • Add cooked tortellini into the sauce and toss gently to coat.

    • Season with salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using) to taste.

  7. Serve:

    • Serve hot, garnished with extra Parmesan or a sprinkle of fresh parsley if desired.


🔄 Optional Add-ins:

  • Cooked mushrooms

  • Grilled or rotisserie chicken

  • Sun-dried tomatoes

  • Toasted pine nuts
