🥖 Soft & Fluffy Dinner Rolls (12 Rolls)
Ingredients:
-
1 cup (240 ml) warm milk (about 40°C / 105°F)
-
2¼ tsp (1 packet or 7 g) active dry yeast
-
2 tbsp (25 g) granulated sugar
-
3 tbsp (45 g) unsalted butter, melted (plus more for brushing)
-
1 large egg
-
3 to 3½ cups (360–420 g) all-purpose flour
-
1 tsp salt
👩🍳 Instructions:
-
Activate the Yeast:
-
In a bowl, mix warm milk, sugar, and yeast.
-
Let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
-
-
Make the Dough:
-
In a large mixing bowl, combine the yeast mixture, melted butter, egg, and salt.
-
Gradually add flour (start with 3 cups), mixing until a soft dough forms.
-
Knead for 8–10 minutes by hand or with a dough hook, adding more flour if sticky. The dough should be soft and slightly tacky, not dry.
-
-
First Rise:
-
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1–1.5 hours or until doubled in size.
-
-
Shape the Rolls:
-
Punch down the dough and divide it into 12 equal pieces.
-
Shape each into a ball and place in a greased 9×13 inch (23×33 cm) baking dish.
-
-
Second Rise:
-
Cover loosely with a towel or plastic wrap and let rise again for 30–45 minutes until puffy.
-
-
Bake:
-
Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).
-
Bake rolls for 20–25 minutes or until golden brown on top.
-
-
Finish:
-
Brush warm rolls with melted butter for extra softness and shine.
-
💡 Tips:
-
For extra softness, substitute some of the all-purpose flour with bread flour.
-
Add a splash of honey with the sugar for a touch of sweetness.
-
Want a golden top? Brush with an egg wash (1 egg + 1 tbsp water) before baking.
