French fries

Here’s a classic French fries recipe — crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside!

🍟 Classic French Fries Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 4 large russet potatoes

  • Cold water (for soaking)

  • Oil for frying (vegetable, canola, or peanut oil)

  • Salt (to taste)

Optional:

  • Garlic powder, paprika, or herbs for extra flavor

Instructions:

1. Peel & Cut:

  • Peel potatoes (or leave skin on for rustic style).

  • Cut into ¼-inch thick sticks. Try to keep them uniform for even cooking.

2. Soak:

  • Place the cut fries in a large bowl of cold water.

  • Soak for at least 30 minutes (or up to a few hours). This removes excess starch and helps them crisp up.

3. Dry Thoroughly:

  • Drain and pat the fries completely dry with paper towels or a clean kitchen towel.

4. First Fry (Blanching):

  • Heat oil in a deep fryer or heavy pot to 300°F (150°C).

  • Fry the potatoes in batches for 4–5 minutes — they should be soft but not colored.

  • Remove and drain on paper towels. Let them cool.

5. Second Fry (Crisping):

  • Increase oil temperature to 375°F (190°C).

  • Fry the cooled fries again in batches for 2–3 minutes until golden and crispy.

  • Drain and immediately season with salt.

✅ Tips:

  • Double-frying is key to crispy fries.

  • Use russet potatoes for best texture.

  • Want to bake instead? Toss with oil and bake at 425°F (220°C) for ~30–40 minutes, flipping halfway.

Let me know if you want a version for air fryer, oven, or a twist like sweet potato fries!
