🥔 Crispy Parmesan Baked Potatoes (Upside-Down Style)
🕒 Total Time: ~45 minutes
Servings: 4
✅ Ingredients:
-
4 medium Yukon Gold or red potatoes (halved)
-
½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
-
1 tsp garlic powder
-
1 tsp onion powder
-
½ tsp smoked paprika (optional)
-
Salt & black pepper to taste
-
2–3 tbsp melted butter or olive oil
-
Fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)
🔪 Instructions:
1. Prep the Potatoes
-
Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
-
Wash potatoes and slice in half lengthwise.
-
Pat dry to remove excess moisture.
2. Prep the Cheese Mixture
-
In a small bowl, mix together:
-
Parmesan cheese
-
Garlic powder
-
Onion powder
-
Paprika
-
A pinch of salt and pepper
-
3. Prepare the Baking Dish
-
Pour melted butter into a 9×13 baking dish or oven-safe skillet.
-
Sprinkle the Parmesan mixture evenly over the butter in the dish (this forms the crispy cheese crust).
4. Place Potatoes
-
Lay the potato halves cut-side down onto the Parmesan layer.
-
Press lightly to make sure they’re in full contact with the cheese mix.
5. Bake
-
Bake uncovered at 400°F for 35–40 minutes, or until potatoes are fork-tender and bottoms are golden brown and crispy.
6. Serve
-
Let cool for 5 minutes before removing (use a spatula to gently lift them).
-
Garnish with chopped parsley and a little extra Parmesan if desired.
🔄 Variations:
-
Add fresh chopped rosemary or thyme to the Parmesan mix.
-
Use a mix of Parmesan and grated cheddar for extra flavor.
-
Swap garlic powder for fresh minced garlic if you want more punch.
Would you like a dipping sauce to pair them with? (Ranch, sour cream, or garlic aioli all go great!)
