π«π· Air Fryer French-Style Potato Chips
π½οΈ Servings: 2β4
β±οΈ Prep Time: 10 mins | Cook Time: 15β20 mins (in batches)
π Ingredients:
-
2 medium russet potatoes (or Yukon Gold for a buttery flavor)
-
1 tbsp olive oil or avocado oil
-
Salt to taste
-
Optional: smoked paprika, garlic powder, herbes de Provence, or black pepper
πͺ Instructions:
1. Slice the potatoes thin
-
Use a mandoline or sharp knife to slice the potatoes very thin (about 1/16 inch or thinner).
-
The thinner, the crispier!
2. Soak to remove starch
-
Place slices in a bowl of cold water for 15β30 minutes. This helps them crisp up.
-
Drain and pat completely dry with a clean towel or paper towels.
3. Season and oil
-
Toss the dry potato slices with olive oil and a pinch of salt. Add other seasonings if desired.
4. Air fry in batches
-
Preheat air fryer to 325Β°F (160Β°C).
-
Arrange slices in a single layer in the air fryer basket (donβt overlap).
-
Air fry for 10β15 minutes, flipping or shaking the basket halfway through.
-
Keep an eye on them β they can go from golden to burnt quickly.
π Repeat in batches for the rest of the chips.
5. Cool and serve
-
Let chips cool slightly β they crisp up more as they cool.
-
Taste and add more salt if needed.
π§ Optional Flavors:
-
French flair: Sprinkle with herbes de Provence or a dash of truffle salt.
-
Spicy twist: Add cayenne or chili powder.
-
Cheesy: Toss with finely grated Parmesan right after frying.
