🍟 Air Fryer Copycat McDonald’s French Fries
🧂 Ingredients:
-
2 large Russet potatoes (peeled, optional)
-
1 tablespoon white vinegar
-
2 teaspoons sugar
-
1 tablespoon vegetable oil (or canola)
-
1–2 teaspoons salt, to taste
-
Cold water for soaking
🔪 Instructions:
1. Cut the Potatoes
-
Slice potatoes into thin matchstick fries (about ¼ inch thick), similar to McDonald’s size.
2. Soak in Sugar-Vinegar Water
-
In a large bowl, combine:
-
Cold water
-
1 tablespoon white vinegar
-
2 teaspoons sugar
-
-
Soak the fries in this mixture for 30–60 minutes.
This helps remove excess starch and mimics the McDonald’s par-fry method.
3. Drain and Dry
-
Drain the potatoes and pat them very dry using paper towels or a clean kitchen towel.
Dry fries = crispy fries.
4. Oil and Preheat
-
Toss dried fries in 1 tablespoon oil evenly.
-
Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for a few minutes.
5. Air Fry
-
Arrange fries in a single layer (cook in batches if needed).
-
Cook at 375°F for 10–15 minutes, shaking or tossing the basket every 5 minutes.
-
For extra crispiness, air fry an additional 3–5 minutes at 400°F at the end.
6. Season
-
Immediately toss hot fries with salt (and a little extra sugar if you want that iconic flavor pop).
✅ Tips for McDonald’s-Like Texture:
-
Double soak: Soaking overnight improves texture even more.
-
Use Russet potatoes for the closest texture match.
-
Optional: Spray fries with a little oil halfway through for extra golden color.
