Air fryer Turkish bread

Here’s a simple and delicious Air Fryer Turkish Bread (Pide-style) recipe — soft inside, slightly crisp outside, perfect with dips, kebabs, or even on its own!


🍞 Air Fryer Turkish Bread (Pide-style Flatbread)

🧂 Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 tsp instant dry yeast

  • 1/2 tsp sugar

  • 3/4 tsp salt

  • 3/4 cup warm water (not hot)

  • 1 tbsp olive oil (plus more for brushing)

  • Optional: 2 tbsp plain yogurt (for extra softness)

✨ For the Topping:

  • 1 egg yolk

  • 1 tbsp milk

  • Sesame seeds and/or nigella seeds (traditional)


🔪 Instructions:

1. Make the Dough:

  1. In a large bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit 5–10 minutes until frothy.

  2. Add flour, salt, and olive oil (plus yogurt if using). Mix into a sticky dough.

  3. Knead for 6–8 minutes (by hand or with mixer) until smooth.

  4. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 45–60 minutes.

2. Shape the Bread:

  1. Punch down the dough. Lightly flour a surface and roll or stretch into an oval or round about 1/2 inch (1.5 cm) thick.

  2. Transfer to parchment paper that fits your air fryer basket.

3. Add Toppings:

  1. Mix egg yolk and milk. Brush over the dough.

  2. Use your fingers or the back of a spoon to press a criss-cross pattern (classic Turkish style).

  3. Sprinkle with sesame and nigella seeds.

4. Air Fry:

  1. Preheat air fryer to 350°F / 175°C for 3 minutes.

  2. Place bread (on parchment) into basket.

  3. Cook for 8–10 minutes, or until puffed and golden brown.


🌿 Serving Ideas:

  • Serve warm with hummus, labneh, baba ganoush, or olive oil & za’atar.

  • Use as a wrap for grilled meat or veggies.

  • Slice into wedges and serve with meze.


💡 Tips:

  • For mini pides, divide dough into smaller rounds and air fry in batches.

  • Dough can be prepped ahead and chilled — just bring to room temp before shaping.
