Thinly sliced potatoes baked in a creamy garlic cheese sauce until golden, bubbly, and tender. No shortcuts — just classic comfort food done right.
🧾 Ingredients:

2 ½ lbs (about 5–6 medium) russet or Yukon Gold potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced

3 tbsp butter

3 tbsp all-purpose flour

2 cups whole milk (warm)

1 cup heavy cream

2 garlic cloves, minced

1 ½ tsp salt

½ tsp black pepper
-
1 ½ cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese

½ cup grated Parmesan cheese

Optional: ½ tsp thyme or fresh chives for garnish

1. Prep:

Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).

Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
2. Make the Cream Sauce:

In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat.

Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds.

Whisk in flour and cook for 1 minute to form a roux.

Gradually whisk in warm milk and cream.

3. Assemble the Dish:
