Posted on May 30, 2025

Here’s a delicious and easy recipe for Apple Dumplings — a warm, comforting dessert featuring tender apples wrapped in flaky dough, baked in a spiced buttery syrup. A classic favorite!

🍏 Apple Dumplings

Ingredients:

  • 2 large apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp work great)

  • 1 can (8-count) refrigerated crescent roll dough

  • ½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter

  • ¾ cup granulated sugar

  • ½ tsp cinnamon

  • ⅓ cup brown sugar (optional, for richer flavor)

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • ¾ cup lemon-lime soda (like Sprite or 7-Up)

  • Optional: pinch of nutmeg

Instructions:

1. Preheat Oven:

  • Set oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.

2. Prepare the Apples:

  • Peel and core the apples.

  • Cut each apple into 8 slices (16 slices total).

3. Wrap the Apples:

  • Unroll the crescent dough and separate into triangles.

  • Place one apple slice at the wide end of each triangle and roll up like a crescent.

  • Place in the prepared baking dish.

4. Make the Syrup:

  • In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat.

  • Stir in sugar, cinnamon, brown sugar (if using), and vanilla until smooth. Don’t boil.

  • Pour the mixture evenly over the dumplings.

5. Add Soda:

  • Gently pour the lemon-lime soda around (not directly on top of) the dumplings.

6. Bake:

  • Bake uncovered for 35–40 minutes, until golden brown and bubbly.

📝 Serving Suggestions:

  • Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or a drizzle of caramel sauce.

  • Sprinkle with chopped pecans for a crunchier twist.
