🕒 Prep Time: 10 minutes
🍳 Cook Time: 25 minutes
🍽️ Serves: 4
Ingredients:
-
1 lb (450g) ground beef
-
2 tablespoons olive oil or butter
-
1 medium onion, chopped
-
2 cloves garlic, minced
-
3 medium potatoes, diced (peeled or unpeeled)
-
1 green bell pepper, chopped (optional)
-
Salt and black pepper, to taste
-
1 teaspoon paprika (optional)
-
1/2 teaspoon dried thyme or oregano
-
Fresh parsley or green onions, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions:
-
Prep the potatoes:
-
Dice the potatoes into small cubes (so they cook faster and get crispy).
-
Optionally, parboil them in salted water for 5-6 minutes for quicker pan frying. Drain well.
-
-
Cook the beef:
-
In a large skillet over medium-high heat, brown the ground beef until fully cooked. Season with a little salt and pepper.
-
Remove from skillet and drain excess fat if needed. Set beef aside.
-
-
Sauté the vegetables:
-
In the same skillet, heat olive oil or butter.
-
Add the chopped onion and cook 2–3 minutes.
-
Add garlic, diced potatoes, and bell pepper (if using).
-
Cook, stirring occasionally, for 10–15 minutes or until potatoes are golden and tender.
-
-
Combine and season:
-
Return the cooked beef to the skillet.
-
Add paprika, thyme/oregano, and more salt and pepper to taste.
-
Stir everything together and cook for another 5 minutes to blend flavors and crisp the edges.
-
-
Garnish and serve:
-
Sprinkle with chopped parsley or green onions.
-
Serve hot — great on its own or with fried eggs on top!
-
Optional Add-Ins:
-
Shredded cheese
-
Worcestershire sauce or hot sauce for extra flavor
-
Diced tomatoes or mushrooms
