Here’s a delicious and easy recipe for Air Fryer Potato Cheese Balls – crispy on the outside, soft and cheesy on the inside. These make a perfect snack, appetizer, or party treat without the need for deep frying!


🧀🥔 Air Fryer Potato Cheese Balls

🧂 Ingredients (Makes 15–20 balls)

  • 2 cups mashed potatoes (cool and firm)

  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or a mix)

  • 2 tbsp cornstarch or all-purpose flour (for binding)

  • 2 tbsp chopped parsley or green onion (optional)

  • Salt and pepper, to taste

  • ½ tsp garlic powder or paprika (optional for extra flavor)

For Breading:

  • 1 egg, beaten (or milk for a lighter coating)

  • ½ cup breadcrumbs (plain or panko)

  • Cooking spray or a light brush of oil


👨‍🍳 Instructions

1. Prepare the Mixture

  • In a bowl, mix the mashed potatoes, cheese, flour/cornstarch, herbs, and seasonings.

  • Take about 1 tbsp of the mixture and roll it into a ball. Repeat until all mixture is used.

2. Bread the Balls

  • Dip each ball into the beaten egg (or milk), then roll in breadcrumbs to coat evenly.

  • Optional: chill the balls for 15 minutes for firmer texture before air frying.

3. Air Fry the Balls

  • Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C).

  • Lightly spray or brush the potato balls with oil.

  • Place in a single layer in the air fryer basket (do not overcrowd).

  • Cook for 10–12 minutes, shaking or turning halfway, until golden brown and crispy.


🍽️ Serving Suggestions

  • Serve hot with dipping sauces like ketchup, garlic mayo, ranch, or sweet chili.

  • Great as party snacks or a side for soup or salad.


🔄 Variations

  • Add a small cube of cheese in the center for a molten core.

  • Mix in cooked bacon bits, chopped jalapeños, or spices for extra flavor.

  • Use gluten-free breadcrumbs to make it GF-friendly.
