Here’s a simple, hearty, and budget-friendly Hamburger and Cabbage recipe. This dish is a one-pan wonder – savory ground beef cooked with tender cabbage, onions, and just a few seasonings. It’s quick, cozy, and perfect for weeknight dinners or meal prep.


🍔🥬 Hamburger and Cabbage Skillet

🧂 Ingredients (Serves 4)

  • 1 lb (450g) ground beef

  • ½ medium head green cabbage, chopped

  • 1 small onion, diced

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 tbsp oil or butter

  • Salt and pepper, to taste

  • ½ tsp paprika (optional)

  • 1 tsp soy sauce or Worcestershire sauce (optional, for added flavor)

  • Optional: pinch of red pepper flakes for heat


👩‍🍳 Instructions

1. Brown the Beef

  • In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium-high heat until browned.

  • Season lightly with salt and pepper.

  • Remove excess grease if necessary.

2. Add Aromatics

  • Push beef to the side of the pan.

  • Add oil/butter, then sauté the diced onion and garlic until soft (about 2–3 minutes).

3. Add the Cabbage

  • Stir in the chopped cabbage.

  • Season with salt, pepper, paprika, and optional soy/Worcestershire sauce.

  • Cook uncovered, stirring occasionally, for 8–10 minutes, or until the cabbage is tender and slightly caramelized.

4. Finish and Serve

  • Taste and adjust seasoning.

  • Serve hot, optionally with rice, mashed potatoes, or cornbread.


🍽️ Serving Ideas

  • Add a fried egg on top for a full meal.

  • Stir in cooked noodles or rice for a one-dish bowl.

  • Top with shredded cheese for a cheesy twist.
