Mushrooms with Cream, Garlic and Parmesan

Posted on May 26, 2025
Here’s a delicious and simple recipe for Mushrooms with Cream, Garlic, and Parmesan. It’s rich, savory, and works beautifully as a side dish, a topping for steak or chicken, or even tossed with pasta.

🍄 Creamy Garlic Parmesan Mushrooms

Ingredients:

  • 2 tbsp butter or olive oil

  • 1 lb (450g) mushrooms (button, cremini, or a mix), cleaned and sliced

  • 4 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1/2 cup heavy cream

  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

  • Optional: 1/4 tsp chili flakes (for a bit of heat)

  • Optional: 1 tsp fresh thyme or parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. Sauté the Mushrooms:
In a large skillet over medium-high heat, melt the butter (or heat the oil). Add the mushrooms and cook for about 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they are golden and have released most of their moisture.

  2. Add Garlic:
Lower the heat to medium. Add the minced garlic and cook for 1–2 minutes, stirring frequently to avoid burning.

  3. Add Cream & Parmesan:
Pour in the heavy cream and bring to a gentle simmer. Add the Parmesan cheese, stirring continuously until the sauce thickens slightly (about 2–3 minutes).

  4. Season:
Add salt, pepper, and chili flakes (if using) to taste. Stir well.

  5. Garnish & Serve:
Sprinkle with fresh thyme or parsley if desired. Serve hot.

🍽️ Serving Ideas:

  • Spoon over grilled steak or roasted chicken

  • Mix into pasta or gnocchi

  • Serve on toast or crusty bread as a decadent starter

Let me know if you’d like a dairy-free version or one with white wine!
