🥟 Crispy Fried Dough Pockets
Dough Ingredients:

2 cups all-purpose flour

2 tbsp oil or melted butter

1/2 tsp salt

1/2 cup warm water (adjust as needed)

Instructions:

Make the Dough:

In a large bowl, combine flour, salt, and (optional) baking powder.

Add oil and mix until crumbly.

Slowly add water and knead into a soft, smooth dough.

Cover and let rest for 20–30 minutes.

Prepare Fillings:

Cook savory fillings if needed and cool.

Sweet fillings should be thick (not runny) to avoid leaks.

Assemble:

Divide dough into equal pieces (golf-ball sized).

Roll out each into a 4–5 inch circle.

Add 1–2 tbsp filling to one half.

Fold over and press edges with a fork to seal. You can also crimp or twist edges.

Fry:

Heat oil in a deep pan to 350–360°F (175–180°C).

Fry a few at a time until golden brown on both sides (2–3 minutes per side).
