Cheesy potato balls in the air fryer

Posted on May 25, 2025
Here’s a simple and delicious recipe for cheesy potato balls in the air fryer—crispy on the outside, melty and cheesy inside:

🧀 Cheesy Potato Balls (Air Fryer Recipe)

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups mashed potatoes (cooled, no extra milk)

  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella (or cheese of choice)

  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder

  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

  • Salt to taste

  • 2 tbsp chopped parsley or green onions (optional)

  • 1 egg (for coating)

  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour (for coating)

  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (panko for extra crunch)

  • Cooking spray or a little oil

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the filling:

    • In a bowl, mix the mashed potatoes with garlic powder, pepper, salt, and herbs.

    • Scoop a tablespoon of potato mix, flatten it slightly, add a small cube or pinch of shredded cheese in the center, and roll it into a ball.

  2. Coat the balls:

    • Roll each ball in flour, then dip in beaten egg, then coat with breadcrumbs. Press lightly so crumbs stick well.

  3. Air fry:

    • Preheat air fryer to 375°F (190°C).

    • Spray the basket with oil or line with parchment with holes.

    • Place the potato balls in the basket, not touching each other.

    • Spray or brush tops lightly with oil.

    • Air fry for 10–12 minutes, shaking or turning halfway, until golden and crispy.

✅ Tips:

  • Freeze before air frying for 15 minutes to help them hold shape.

  • Add chopped jalapeños or bacon bits to the potato mix for extra flavor.

  • Serve with ranch, spicy mayo, or marinara for dipping.
