Air Fryer French Fries

Posted on May 3, 2025
Here’s a crisp and easy recipe for Air Fryer French Fries—golden on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and healthier than deep-fried versions!

Air Fryer French Fries

Ingredients:

  • 2–3 medium russet potatoes (or Yukon Gold for a creamier interior)

  • 1–2 tbsp olive oil (or spray oil)

  • 1/2 tsp salt (plus more to taste)

  • Optional: black pepper, garlic powder, paprika, or your favorite seasoning blend

  • Optional: chopped parsley or grated parmesan for topping

Instructions:

  1. Prep the potatoes:

    • Wash and peel (optional) the potatoes.

    • Cut into 1/4-inch thick sticks for classic fries, or thinner for shoestring-style.

  2. Soak:

    • Place cut potatoes in a bowl of cold water for at least 30 minutes (or up to 1 hour).

    • This removes excess starch and helps achieve crispier fries.

  3. Dry thoroughly:

    • Drain and pat potatoes completely dry with a towel—moisture causes sogginess.

  4. Season:

    • Toss the fries in olive oil and season with salt and optional spices.

  5. Air fry:

    • Preheat air fryer to 375°F (190°C).

    • Spread fries in a single layer (cook in batches if needed).

    • Cook for 15–20 minutes, shaking the basket every 5 minutes until golden and crisp.

    • For extra crispy fries, increase heat to 400°F for the last 3–5 minutes.

  6. Serve:

    • Sprinkle with extra salt, herbs, or cheese.

    • Serve hot with ketchup, aioli, or your favorite dipping sauce.

Tips:

  • Want them even crispier? Add 1 tsp cornstarch to the oil before tossing.

  • Don’t overcrowd the air fryer—crowding = steaming instead of crisping.
