Sliced Baked Potatoes

Posted on May 1, 2025

Sliced Baked Potatoes (also known as Hasselback potatoes) are a simple yet elegant dish—crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and perfect as a side or appetizer. Here’s an easy recipe:

🥔 Sliced Baked Potatoes (Hasselback Style)

Ingredients:

  • 4 medium russet or Yukon gold potatoes

  • 3 tbsp olive oil or melted butter (or both)

  • 2–3 garlic cloves, minced (optional)

  • Salt and black pepper to taste

  • Fresh or dried herbs: rosemary, thyme, or parsley

  • Optional toppings: shredded cheese, bacon bits, sour cream, chives, or Parmesan

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).

  2. Slice the potatoes:

    • Place a potato on a cutting board between two chopsticks or wooden spoons.

    • Carefully slice the potato into thin slits (about 1/8–1/4 inch apart), stopping when the knife hits the chopsticks—this keeps the base intact.

  3. Season:

    • Mix olive oil or melted butter with garlic, herbs, salt, and pepper.

    • Brush generously over and between the slices.

  4. Bake:

    • Place potatoes on a baking sheet lined with parchment.

    • Bake for 45–60 minutes, basting with more oil/butter halfway through.

    • The edges should crisp up, and the insides should be tender.

  5. Optional finish:

    • Add shredded cheese or Parmesan in the last 10 minutes of baking.

    • Top with bacon, chives, or a dollop of sour cream before serving.

🍽️ Serving Ideas:

Pair with steak, grilled chicken, or a fresh salad for a balanced meal.
