๐Ÿฅ Golden Puff Pastry Beef Rolls

๐Ÿงบ Ingredients (Makes about 10โ€“12 rolls):

  • 500 g (1 lb) ground beef

  • 1 small onion, finely chopped

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 small carrot, grated (optional for moisture and flavor)

  • 1 egg (for the meat mixture)

  • 1 egg (for egg wash)

  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

  • 1 tbsp tomato paste or ketchup

  • 1 tsp dried oregano or mixed herbs

  • Salt and pepper, to taste

  • 2 sheets of puff pastry (store-bought or homemade)

  • Sesame seeds or poppy seeds (optional, for topping)

  1. Preheat oven to 200ยฐC (400ยฐF) and line a baking tray with parchment paper.

  2. Prepare the filling
    In a bowl, mix the ground beef, chopped onion, garlic, grated carrot, 1 egg, Worcestershire sauce, tomato paste, herbs, salt, and pepper. Mix well until fully combined.

  3. Assemble the rolls

    • Cut each puff pastry sheet into 2 or 3 long strips (depending on the size).

    • Spoon a line of the beef mixture along one edge of each strip.

    • Roll up tightly, sealing the edge with a bit of beaten egg.

  4. Cut & brush

    • Slice each roll into smaller pieces (about 5โ€“6 cm / 2 inches long).

    • Place on the baking tray seam-side down.

    • Brush the tops with beaten egg and sprinkle with sesame or poppy seeds if desired.

  5. Bake
    Bake for 20โ€“25 minutes, or until the pastry is puffed and golden and the meat is cooked through.

  6. Serve
    Let cool slightly before serving. Delicious with ketchup, mustard, or a spicy tomato chutney.
