🥟 Queso Fresco Avocado Wontons

Ingredients:

  • 1 ripe avocado, diced

  • 1/2 cup queso fresco, crumbled

  • 2 tablespoons red onion, finely diced

  • 1 tablespoon cilantro, chopped

  • Juice of 1/2 lime

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • 20 wonton wrappers

  • Water (for sealing wontons)

  • Oil for frying (vegetable or canola)

Instructions:

  1. Make the Filling:
    In a bowl, gently combine avocado, queso fresco, red onion, cilantro, and lime juice. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

  2. Assemble Wontons:
    Place 1 teaspoon of the filling in the center of a wonton wrapper. Moisten the edges with water using your finger. Fold into a triangle or bring all four corners to the center to form a purse shape, pressing edges firmly to seal.

  3. Fry the Wontons:
    Heat 2 inches of oil in a pan to 350°F (175°C). Fry the wontons in batches until golden brown, about 2–3 minutes. Drain on paper towels.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup sour cream or Mexican crema

  • 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice

  • 1 teaspoon lime zest

  • 2 tablespoons fresh cilantro, finely chopped

  • Salt to taste

Instructions:

  1. Mix all ingredients in a small bowl until smooth.

  2. Chill for 10–15 minutes to let the flavors meld.


🍽️ To Serve:

Plate the wontons with a side of the cilantro lime crema for dipping. Garnish with extra cilantro or a lime wedge if desired.
