Easy Sopapilla Cheesecake

Posted on April 27, 2025
Easy Sopapilla Cheesecake is a delicious and simple dessert that combines the creamy richness of cheesecake with the light, buttery, and slightly crispy texture of sopapilla. This dessert is perfect for anyone craving something sweet, but without the time or effort of making a traditional cheesecake. Here’s how to make it:

Easy Sopapilla Cheesecake

Ingredients:

  • 2 cans (8 oz each) crescent roll dough (or similar dough)

  • 2 (8 oz) packages cream cheese, softened

  • 1 cup granulated sugar

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon (for topping)

  • 1/4 cup butter, melted

  • 1/4 cup brown sugar (for topping)

Instructions:

1. Preheat the oven:

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter or non-stick cooking spray.

2. Layer the crescent roll dough:

  • Unroll one can of crescent roll dough and press it into the bottom of the prepared baking dish, pinching the seams together to form one even layer.

3. Prepare the cheesecake filling:

  • In a large bowl, beat together the softened cream cheese, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy. You can use a hand mixer or a stand mixer for this.

4. Spread the cream cheese mixture:

  • Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the crescent dough layer in the baking dish.

5. Add the second layer of dough:

  • Unroll the second can of crescent roll dough and place it on top of the cream cheese layer, pinching the seams together again.

6. Top with butter and sugar:

  • Pour the melted butter over the top layer of dough, then sprinkle with a mixture of brown sugar and cinnamon.

7. Bake:

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 30 to 35 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.

8. Cool and serve:

  • Let the sopapilla cheesecake cool for at least 15-20 minutes before cutting into squares. It will set up as it cools, and the filling will be nice and creamy.

Tips & Variations:

  • Toppings: For extra flavor, you can drizzle with honey or a little caramel sauce once it’s baked and cooled slightly.

  • Flavored cream cheese: You can experiment by adding a little lemon zest or orange zest to the cream cheese filling for a citrusy twist.

  • Make ahead: You can assemble this dessert a day ahead and refrigerate it before baking. Just make sure to add a few extra minutes to the baking time.

  • Sweetness: If you prefer a less sweet dessert, you can adjust the sugar in the filling or topping to your taste.

Why You’ll Love This Dessert:

  • Quick & Easy: Using crescent rolls instead of making dough from scratch makes this a fast and foolproof recipe.

  • Deliciously Creamy: The combination of cream cheese and cinnamon sugar gives it a rich, comforting flavor.

  • Perfect for any occasion: Whether you’re hosting a party, making a potluck dish, or just want a sweet treat at home, this dessert is sure to please!
