Here’s a super easy recipe to make them:
Cheesy Garlic Mashed Potato Stacks
Ingredients (makes 10–12 stacks):
-
4–5 medium potatoes, peeled and chopped
-
3 tbsp butter
-

-
2 cloves garlic, minced or roasted
-
3/4 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or a blend)
-
1/4 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
-
Salt & pepper, to taste
-
Optional: chopped chives, thyme, or parsley for garnish
-
Nonstick cooking spray or butter (for greasing muffin tin)
Instructions:
-
Boil the potatoes:
Place potatoes in a pot of salted water, bring to a boil, and cook until fork-tender (about 15–20 minutes). Drain well. -
Mash it up:
In a bowl, mash the potatoes with butter, milk, garlic, salt, and pepper. Stir in shredded cheese and Parmesan until smooth and cheesy. -
Prep your muffin tin:
Grease a 12-cup muffin tin with nonstick spray or melted butter. -
Scoop & stack:
Spoon the mashed potato mixture evenly into the muffin cups, pressing down gently to form little stacks. -
Top it off:
Sprinkle a bit of extra shredded cheese or Parmesan on top of each one. -
Bake:
Bake at 400°F (200°C) for about 20–25 minutes, or until the tops are golden and slightly crispy. -
Cool & remove:
Let them sit for a few minutes to firm up, then gently remove from the tin with a spoon or offset spatula. -
Serve warm:
Garnish with chopped chives, parsley, or a dollop of sour cream if you’re feeling fancy!
Tips & Variations:
-
Add cooked bacon bits or green onions into the mash for extra flavor.
-
Try roasted garlic instead of raw for a mellow, sweet flavor.
