Lemon juice, honey, garlic, onion, and grated ginger

Posted on April 26, 2025

Ahhh yes—you’re listing off the legendary combo that’s basically nature’s all-in-one cold & flu elixir. Lemon juice, honey, garlic, onion, and grated ginger? That’s the stuff your grandma and a holistic healer would both swear by.

Here’s how it all comes together:

Immune-Boosting Tonic / Natural Cough Syrup

 Ingredients:

  • 1 small onion, finely sliced

  • 3–4 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 tbsp grated fresh ginger

  • Juice of 1 lemon

  • 2–3 tbsp raw honey (local if possible)

 Instructions:

  1. Layer it up:

    • In a jar, layer the sliced onion, garlic, and ginger.

  2. Add lemon juice and honey, then stir gently or let it all sit.

  3. Steep:

    • Let it sit at room temp for a few hours (or overnight in the fridge).

    • The mixture will turn syrupy as the honey pulls out the juices.

  4. Strain (optional), or just take by the spoonful.

 How to Use:

  • 1 tablespoon at a time when you’ve got a sore throat, cough, or feel a cold coming on.

  • Can also mix into warm (not boiling!) water for a soothing tea.

Want a version you can simmer into a broth or turn into a throat spray?
