Fried Shrimp and Broccoli Recipe

Posted on April 24, 2025

Yes!  A Fried Shrimp and Broccoli combo is a crispy, satisfying classic—whether you’re going for an Asian-style stir-fry or a deep-fried version. Here are two styles to choose from, depending on your craving:

1. Crispy Fried Shrimp & Broccoli (Battered & Fried)

 Ingredients:

  • 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined

  • 2 cups broccoli florets

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

  • ½ cup cornstarch

  • 1 tsp baking powder

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • Salt & pepper to taste

  • 1 egg

  • ¾ cup cold sparkling water (or just cold water)

  • Oil for frying (canola or peanut)

 Instructions:

  1. Blanch broccoli: Boil for 1–2 min until bright green, then drain and pat dry.

  2. Mix batter: In a bowl, combine flour, cornstarch, baking powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Whisk in egg and cold water until smooth.

  3. Heat oil: About 350°F (175°C) in a deep pan.

  4. Dip shrimp and broccoli in batter. Fry in batches until golden and crisp (2–3 min per side). Drain on paper towels.

  5. Serve hot with a dipping sauce like sweet chili, spicy mayo, or garlic soy sauce.

2. Stir-Fried Shrimp & Broccoli (Healthier Option)

 Ingredients:

  • 1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined

  • 3 cups broccoli florets

  • 2 tbsp oil (sesame or neutral oil)

  • 3 garlic cloves, minced

  • 1-inch piece ginger, minced

Sauce:

  • 2 tbsp soy sauce

  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce

  • 1 tbsp hoisin or honey

  • 1 tsp cornstarch + 2 tbsp water (slurry)

  • Optional: chili flakes or sriracha for heat

 Instructions:

  1. Mix sauce ingredients in a bowl.

  2. Heat oil in a wok or skillet. Add garlic & ginger, sauté 30 sec.

  3. Add shrimp. Cook until pink (2–3 min). Remove and set aside.

  4. Add broccoli with a splash of water, stir-fry 2–3 min until tender-crisp.

  5. Return shrimp to pan. Add sauce. Toss until everything is glazed and hot.

  6. Serve with rice or noodles.
