Ingredients:
-
2 tbsp olive oil (or any cooking oil of choice)
-
1 cup mushrooms (button, cremini, or your choice), sliced
-
2 cups broccoli florets (fresh or frozen)
-
2 garlic cloves, minced
-
1 small onion, thinly sliced (optional)
-
1 tbsp soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
-
1 tbsp oyster sauce (optional, or more soy sauce)
-
1 tsp sesame oil (optional, for extra flavor)
-
1 tsp fresh ginger, grated (optional)
-
1 tbsp sesame seeds (optional)
-
Salt & pepper to taste
-
Red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)
Instructions:
-
Prepare the vegetables:
-
Slice the mushrooms and set them aside.
-
Cut the broccoli into bite-sized florets. If using frozen broccoli, you can thaw it before or use it straight from the freezer.
-
-
Heat the oil:
-
In a large skillet or wok, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat.
-
-
Sauté the garlic and onion:
-
Add the minced garlic (and onion, if using) to the pan and sauté for about 1-2 minutes, until fragrant and softened.
-
-
Cook the mushrooms:
-
Add the sliced mushrooms to the pan and cook for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the mushrooms release their moisture and become golden brown.
-
-
Add the broccoli:
-
Add the broccoli florets to the pan. Stir to combine with the mushrooms.
-
If you’re using fresh broccoli, cook for another 5-7 minutes, or until it’s tender but still vibrant. If you’re using frozen broccoli, you can cook for 3-4 minutes, just to heat through.
-
-
Season the stir-fry:
-
Add soy sauce, oyster sauce (if using), sesame oil, and grated ginger to the pan. Stir everything together.
-
Season with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes (if desired) to taste.
-
-
Finish and serve:
-
Cook everything for another 1-2 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
-
Sprinkle sesame seeds over the top before serving.
-
Tips:
-
For extra protein, you can add tofu, chicken, or shrimp to the stir-fry.
-
For more flavor, feel free to add a squeeze of fresh lemon juice or lime juice right before serving.
-
This dish pairs well with rice, quinoa, or noodles.
