Air Fryer Grilled Cheese
Ingredients:
-
2 slices of bread (white, whole wheat, sourdough, or your favorite)
-
2 tablespoons butter (or mayonnaise for an extra crispy crust)
-
2-3 slices of cheese (cheddar, American, or any melty variety you love)
-
Optional: garlic powder, onion powder, or fresh herbs for extra flavor
Instructions:
-
Prep the Bread:
Butter one side of each slice of bread. If you’re using mayonnaise, spread a thin layer on the outside of the bread instead of butter—this will give you an even crispier texture. (Tip: You can also sprinkle a little garlic powder or add some herbs to the butter or mayo for an extra flavor boost!) -
Assemble the Sandwich:
Place one slice of bread, butter-side-down, on a clean surface. Add your cheese slices on top. Top with the second slice of bread, butter-side-up. -
Air Fryer Setup:
Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for about 3-5 minutes (or according to your air fryer’s instructions). You want it nice and hot for that crispy crust. -
Air Fry the Sandwich:
Place the sandwich in the air fryer basket or tray. Make sure it’s not touching the sides, so the hot air circulates evenly. Cook at 375°F for about 4-6 minutes, depending on your air fryer. After 3 minutes, flip the sandwich to the other side to ensure it cooks evenly on both sides. (If you want it extra crispy, you can leave it a little longer, but keep an eye on it!) -
Serve & Enjoy:
Once the sandwich is golden brown and the cheese is melted to perfection, remove it from the air fryer and cut it in half. Serve immediately with a side of tomato soup or some pickle slices for the ultimate comfort meal.
Tips for the Best Air Fryer Grilled Cheese:
-
Cheese: Use cheese that melts well (cheddar, mozzarella, Swiss, etc.). For a melty mix, combine different cheeses!
-
Bread Choice: A thicker, heartier bread like sourdough or a nice whole wheat can give you that perfect crispy bite, but even regular sandwich bread works great.
-
Flavor Boost: Try adding some extras like cooked bacon, tomato slices, or even a drizzle of hot sauce before you air fry for a creative twist!
