Here’s a basic Basta Pasta! recipe that you can tweak based on your preferences:

Basta Pasta! Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 12 oz pasta (spaghetti, linguine, penne, or any of your choice)

  • 3 tablespoons olive oil

  • 3 cloves garlic, thinly sliced or minced

  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional for a bit of heat)

  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)

  • Salt and black pepper to taste

  • Freshly grated Parmesan cheese (optional, for serving)

  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice (optional, for a fresh, zesty kick)

  • Cherry tomatoes (optional, for added sweetness and color)

Instructions:

  1. Cook the Pasta:

    • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the pasta and cook according to the package directions until al dente.

    • Reserve about 1/2 cup of pasta cooking water, then drain the pasta.

  2. Prepare the Sauce:

    • While the pasta is cooking, heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.

    • Add the garlic and sauté for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.

    • If using, add the red pepper flakes and cook for another 30 seconds.

  3. Combine Pasta and Sauce:

    • Add the cooked pasta directly into the skillet with the garlic and oil. Toss to coat the pasta well in the garlic-infused oil.

    • If the pasta seems dry, add a little of the reserved pasta cooking water a tablespoon at a time to help loosen it up and create a silky sauce.

  4. Add Flavor:

    • Season with salt and black pepper to taste.

    • For a burst of freshness, squeeze in the lemon juice and toss to combine.

    • Stir in the chopped parsley for a pop of color and flavor.

  5. Serve:

    • Plate the pasta and sprinkle with freshly grated Parmesan cheese if you like.

    • You can also add halved cherry tomatoes or any other veggies for extra flavor and texture.

Optional Variations:

  • Add Protein: Grilled chicken, shrimp, or crispy bacon can make this dish even heartier.

  • Veggie Add-ins: Sautéed spinach, mushrooms, or roasted bell peppers would be delicious additions.

  • Cheese: Try adding a little ricotta or goat cheese to make it extra creamy!
