Strawberry Cheesecake Dump Cake

Posted on March 2, 2025

Strawberry Cheesecake Dump Cake is an incredibly easy and delicious dessert that combines the creamy, tangy flavor of cheesecake with the sweet and fruity goodness of strawberries. It’s a perfect no-fuss dessert for when you’re craving something indulgent but don’t want to spend too much time in the kitchen. Plus, it’s made with minimal ingredients and requires no mixing—just “dump” everything in a baking dish and let the oven do the work!

Here’s the Strawberry Cheesecake Dump Cake recipe:

Strawberry Cheesecake Dump Cake

Ingredients:

  • 1 can (21 oz) strawberry pie filling (or fresh strawberries, if preferred)
  • 1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 box (15.25 oz) yellow cake mix (or white cake mix)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (1 stick), melted
  • 1/2 cup sour cream (optional, for extra creaminess)

Instructions:

Step 1: Prepare the Cream Cheese Layer
  1. Mix the cream cheese filling: In a medium-sized bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with sugar and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy. If you’re adding sour cream, mix it in as well. This will be your creamy cheesecake layer.
Step 2: Prepare the Baking Dish
  1. Grease the dish: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish or spray it with non-stick cooking spray.
Step 3: Assemble the Cake
  1. Layer the strawberry filling: Spread the strawberry pie filling (or fresh strawberries) evenly in the bottom of the prepared baking dish. If using fresh strawberries, you can slice them and toss them with a bit of sugar to help release their juice.
  2. Add the cheesecake layer: Drop spoonfuls of the cream cheese mixture on top of the strawberry layer. Spread it evenly as much as you can (it doesn’t need to cover every inch perfectly).
  3. Top with cake mix: Evenly sprinkle the dry cake mix over the top of the cheesecake layer. Don’t stir or mix—it will form the cake layer as it bakes.
  4. Pour the butter: Drizzle the melted butter evenly over the dry cake mix. This will help the cake form a crispy, golden top while baking.
Step 4: Bake
  1. Bake: Place the baking dish in the oven and bake for about 45-50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
  2. Cool: Let the cake cool for about 10-15 minutes before serving. This will allow the layers to set slightly.
Step 5: Serve
  1. Serve warm: Serve this decadent dump cake warm, topped with a dollop of whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream for extra indulgence.

Tips:

  • Fresh strawberries: If using fresh strawberries instead of pie filling, you can cook them down slightly with sugar to make a quick strawberry sauce if you’d like a more intense strawberry flavor.
  • Crispy topping: To get a crispier, more golden top, make sure the butter is evenly distributed across the cake mix. You can also sprinkle some sugar on top before baking to enhance the texture.
  • Add-ins: Feel free to add in some chocolate chips or crushed graham crackers for extra flavor and texture.
  • Make it ahead: This cake can be made ahead and stored in the fridge for a day or two. Just reheat before serving for a fresh, warm dessert.

This Strawberry Cheesecake Dump Cake is a no-fuss, quick dessert that’s perfect for last-minute gatherings or simply satisfying your sweet tooth. It combines all the best flavors of cheesecake and strawberries, and the cake topping gives it a delightful texture!
