Making sliced potatoes in the air fryer is a quick and easy way to get crispy, golden potatoes without all the oil and hassle of frying. Air fryers are perfect for achieving that crispy exterior while keeping the inside soft and fluffy. You can season them however you like, but here’s a simple and delicious method to get the best results.

Crispy Sliced Potatoes in the Air Fryer

Ingredients:

  • 4 medium potatoes (Yukon Gold, Russet, or red potatoes work great)
  • 1-2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika (optional, for a smoky flavor)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. Prep the potatoes:

    • Wash and peel the potatoes (if you prefer, you can leave the skins on for extra texture and flavor).
    • Slice the potatoes into thin rounds (about 1/4-inch thick). Try to keep the slices as uniform as possible to ensure even cooking.
  2. Soak the potatoes:

    • To remove excess starch and help achieve crispier potatoes, soak the slices in water for about 30 minutes. This step is optional, but it does improve the texture. After soaking, pat the potatoes dry with a paper towel.
  3. Season the potatoes:

    • In a large bowl, toss the potato slices with olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Make sure the potatoes are evenly coated with the seasoning and oil.
  4. Preheat the air fryer:

    • Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for about 3-5 minutes.
  5. Air fry the potatoes:

    • Place the potato slices in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Don’t overcrowd them; cook in batches if needed to allow the hot air to circulate and crisp them up.
    • Air fry the slices for about 15-20 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through to ensure even cooking.
    • Check for crispiness after 15 minutes. If you want them extra crispy, continue air frying for another 3-5 minutes.
  6. Serve:

    • Once the potato slices are golden and crispy, remove them from the air fryer and serve immediately. Garnish with fresh chopped parsley if desired.

Tips & Variations:

  • Seasoning variations: Get creative with your seasonings! You can add Italian seasoning, parmesan cheese, chili powder, or rosemary for different flavor profiles.
  • Crispy edges: For extra crispy edges, you can slice the potatoes a bit thinner or add a little bit of cornstarch to the seasoning mix.
  • Dipping sauce: Serve these crispy potato slices with your favorite dipping sauce, like ranch, ketchup, or a garlic aioli.
