Creamy Homemade Milk Fudge

Posted on February 26, 2025
Creamy Homemade Milk Fudge is a simple, sweet treat that’s incredibly smooth, melt-in-your-mouth, and rich in flavor. It’s made with just a few basic ingredients and has that comforting, creamy texture that makes it irresistible. Here’s how you can make it at home:

Ingredients:

  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup whole milk (or heavy cream for an extra creamy texture)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • A pinch of salt

Instructions:

  1. Prepare your pan: Line an 8×8-inch square baking dish or a small rectangular pan with parchment paper or lightly grease it with butter to prevent the fudge from sticking.

  2. Cook the fudge mixture: In a medium saucepan, combine the sweetened condensed milk, sugar, butter, and milk (or cream). Stir everything together over medium heat until the butter melts and the sugar dissolves.

  3. Bring it to a boil: Once the sugar has dissolved, bring the mixture to a boil, stirring frequently. Keep an eye on it and make sure it doesn’t boil over. Once it reaches a boil, reduce the heat to medium-low, and continue cooking, stirring constantly for 8-10 minutes.

  4. Check the consistency: After about 10 minutes, the mixture should thicken up. To test the consistency, drop a small spoonful of the mixture into a cup of cold water. If it forms a soft ball when you try to shape it with your fingers, it’s ready. If it’s still too runny, cook it for a few more minutes and test again.

  5. Add flavor: Once the fudge has reached the right consistency, remove the saucepan from the heat. Stir in the vanilla extract and a pinch of salt, mixing until smooth.

  6. Pour and cool: Pour the fudge mixture into the prepared pan, spreading it out evenly. Allow the fudge to cool completely at room temperature. You can also refrigerate it for 1-2 hours to speed up the process and make it set faster.

  7. Cut into squares: Once the fudge is fully set and firm, cut it into small squares or rectangles.

  8. Serve: Serve your creamy milk fudge and enjoy the sweet, melt-in-your-mouth texture!

Tips:

  • Add-ins: You can stir in chopped nuts (like walnuts or pecans) or chocolate chips before pouring the fudge into the pan for some extra flavor and texture.
  • Make it chocolatey: If you prefer chocolate fudge, simply add 1/2 cup of unsweetened cocoa powder to the mixture when you add the milk, then proceed as usual.
  • Storage: Store the fudge in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week, or keep it in the fridge to extend its shelf life.

This creamy milk fudge is perfect for a homemade gift or a simple treat when you’re craving something sweet and comforting.

Would you like to try adding any fun variations, or maybe a topping to the fudge?
