5 Minute Cake

Posted on June 27, 2025
You got it! A 5-Minute Cake is perfect for those instant dessert cravings — usually made in a mug and cooked in the microwave. Here’s a quick and satisfying recipe for a Chocolate Mug Cake that’s rich, moist, and ready in minutes.

🍫 5-Minute Chocolate Mug Cake (Microwave)

Ingredients:

  • 4 tbsp all-purpose flour

  • 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder

  • 3 tbsp granulated sugar (or brown sugar for deeper flavor)

  • ¼ tsp baking powder

  • Pinch of salt

  • 3 tbsp milk

  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil (or melted butter)

  • ¼ tsp vanilla extract

  • Optional: chocolate chips, Nutella, or peanut butter

🧁 Instructions:

  1. Mix Dry Ingredients:

    • In a microwave-safe mug (10–12 oz), stir together flour, cocoa, sugar, baking powder, and salt.

  2. Add Wet Ingredients:

    • Stir in milk, oil, and vanilla until smooth.

    • Optional: fold in 1 tbsp chocolate chips or a spoonful of Nutella in the center.

  3. Microwave:

    • Microwave on high for 1 minute and 10–30 seconds, depending on your microwave’s power.

    • Cake should rise and be just set but still slightly gooey in the middle if you like it fudgy.

  4. Cool Slightly:

    • Let cool for 1 minute (it’ll be hot!).

    • Top with whipped cream, ice cream, or a dusting of powdered sugar.

🍰 Variations:

  • Vanilla version: Skip cocoa and add a splash more vanilla.

  • Mocha: Add ½ tsp instant coffee with dry mix.

  • Keto/low-carb? I can give you a version using almond flour and erythritol!

Let me know your flavor preference, and I can whip up a 5-minute cake version in vanilla, lemon, peanut butter, or even red velvet!
