Here’s a quick and tasty recipe for a 30-Minute Seven-Layer Salad — a classic layered salad that’s fresh, colorful, and perfect for potlucks, BBQs, or easy weeknight meals. Each layer brings a different texture and flavor, and the creamy dressing ties it all together.


🥗 30-Minute Seven-Layer Salad

Ingredients:

  • 6 cups chopped iceberg lettuce

  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved

  • 1 cup cucumber, diced

  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

  • 6 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled

  • 1 cup hard-boiled eggs, chopped (about 4 eggs)

  • 1 cup red onion, finely chopped

  • 1 (8 oz) container sour cream

  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise

  • 1 tbsp white vinegar or lemon juice

  • 1 tsp sugar

  • Salt and pepper, to taste

  • Optional: chopped fresh chives or parsley for garnish


🧑‍🍳 Instructions:

1. Prepare the Dressing:

  • In a small bowl, mix together sour cream, mayonnaise, vinegar (or lemon juice), sugar, salt, and pepper until smooth. Set aside.

2. Layer the Salad:

  • In a clear glass bowl or deep serving dish, layer the ingredients in this order:

    1. Chopped lettuce (spread evenly)

    2. Diced cucumber

    3. Halved cherry tomatoes

    4. Chopped red onion

    5. Chopped hard-boiled eggs

    6. Crumbled bacon

    7. Shredded cheddar cheese

3. Top with Dressing:

  • Spread the creamy dressing evenly over the top layer.

4. Chill and Serve:

  • Cover and refrigerate for at least 20–30 minutes before serving to let flavors meld.

  • Garnish with chopped chives or parsley if desired.

  • You can prep all the ingredients ahead to save time.

  • Substitute Greek yogurt for sour cream for a lighter dressing.

  • Add extra crunch with a layer of sliced radishes or bell peppers.

  • Serve with tortilla chips or crusty bread for dipping.
