Posted on September 24, 2025

You got it! These 3-ingredient butter cookies are buttery, crisp, and melt-in-your-mouth deliciousβ€”and yes, only three pantry staples are required. They’re perfect for holiday trays, afternoon tea, or just a quick sweet bite.

πŸͺ 3-Ingredient Butter Cookies

πŸ“ Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened

  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar (or powdered sugar for a more tender texture)

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

Optional add-ins: vanilla extract, a pinch of salt, or toppings like sprinkles, chocolate chips, or jam

πŸ”₯ Instructions:

1. Preheat Oven

To 350Β°F (175Β°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

2. Cream the Butter and Sugar

  • In a bowl, cream softened butter and sugar together until light and fluffy (2–3 minutes).

3. Add the Flour

  • Mix in the flour gradually until a soft dough forms.

  • If dough is crumbly, knead it gently with your hands until it comes together.

4. Shape the Cookies

  • Roll into 1-inch balls and flatten slightly with a fork or your palm
    OR

  • Roll dough into a log, chill, and slice into rounds
    OR

  • Pipe through a star tip for a fancy shape (if dough is soft enough)

5. Bake

  • Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until the edges are just lightly golden.

  • Let cool on the sheet for a few minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.

🍫 Optional Flavor Additions (still super simple!):

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract or almond extract

  • A pinch of salt

  • Press a chocolate chip or thumbprint of jam in the center before baking

  • Dip half the cookie in melted chocolate after cooling

πŸ₯‘ Storage:

  • Keep in an airtight container at room temp for up to 1 week

  • Freeze unbaked dough or baked cookies for up to 2 months
